Dubai Electricity and Water Authority installed EV Green Chargers at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Emirates Golf Club

Accelerating the transition towards a sustainable low-carbon future, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and Emirates Golf Club have become the latest destinations to house Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Electric Vehicle (EV) Green Chargers, both clubs seeing the installation of a Public Charging Station.

DEWA has installed two charging stations, with each station able to charge two vehicles at a time. Furthermore, DEWA plans to increase the number of charging stations from 100 to 200 stations during 2018 with the locations available on DEWA website and Smart Application. In addition, DEWA is currently offering an incentive to its EV Green Charger customers, wherein they will be able charge their EVs, via DEWA’s EV Green Chargers stations, completely free. This incentive will last until 31st of December 2019, and it will be exclusive to public charging stations.

“DEWA launched the Electric Vehicle (EV) Green Charger Initiative to support the Smart Dubai initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world and promote green transportation in the city. The Green Charger initiative effectively contributes towards achieving the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021, which aims to make Dubai a smart, integrated and connected city, sustainable with its resources and where environmental components are clean, healthy and sustainable. DEWA’s smart initiatives help to create a smarter and better future for all residents of Dubai”, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA)

“DEWA contributes efficiently to environmental conservation and sustainable development. Through the Green Charger initiative, DEWA aims to encourage people to use sustainable transportation, to help reduce carbon emissions in the transport sector, which is the second-highest contributor of greenhouse gas emissions in Dubai,” Al Tayer added

Members and guests visiting the clubs can now take advantage of the easily accessible stations – leaving their vehicles to charge whilst enjoying a round of golf on the award-winning course, or a bite to eat in one of the many restaurants. The Public Charger, (dual outlet) provides full charge in two to four hours, depending on the type of car and battery capacity.

Also commenting on the recent installations, Christopher May, Chief Executive Officer said, “Sustainability and environmental practices continue to be a key focus at Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Both clubs are GEO Certified and, as such make every effort to deliver a positive impact on communities and the environment. The introduction of Dewa EV Green Chargers was a natural next step towards our ongoing commitment to a sustainable future.”

Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club is home to an 18-hole championship golf course and a variety of restaurants and bars including Boardwalk, Casa de Tapas, Legends, Lakeview, Cielo Sky Lounge, QD’s and the popular BBQ Donuts.

Emirates Golf Club is home to two of the city’s finest must-play courses, as well as the recently opened Jones the Grocer, Carine and much loved Spike Bar.
