DP World and Tommy Fleetwood Academy launch DP World Golf Week

DP World and Tommy Fleetwood Academy launch DP World Golf Week

Thursday 4th May 2023

DP World Golf Week teed off this week at Dubai Heights Academy, with a mission to grow the game of golf in schools across the Emirate. Through their investment in the DP World Tour, one of DP World’s goals has been to grow the game globally and drive positive community impact.

The initiative features a state-of-the-art shipping container, repurposed as a “roaming” Tommy Fleetwood Academy that opens into a swing studio, which features a Trackman that will allow students to play interactive games.

The idea to launch DP World Golf Week at schools came to life following the hugely successful opening of the DP World Golf Performance, which houses the Tommy Fleetwood Academy, last November.

Danny Van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer at DP World said: “We’re thrilled to launch the first DP World Golf Week at Dubai Heights alongside the Tommy Fleetwood Academy. With the support of Dubai Golf and the KHDA, golf will become an official extracurricular activity at Dubai Heights Academy from October this year. This is one of the many steps DP World is taking to reinforce our commitment to growing grassroots golf at all levels in the UAE. Through initiatives like this, one day we hope to see UAE grown talent compete on the world stage.”

Throughout the week more than 120 students will have the opportunity to interact with the container, having lessons with the professional coaches from the Tommy Fleetwood Academy. All students can the choose to visit the DP World Golf Performance Centre at Jumeriah Golf Estates and trial the facilities of the Tommy Fleetwood Academy.

DP World Golf Week is supported by Dubai Golf, which manages the three leading golf clubs in the region — Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates — as well as Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
