Hughes Claims Victory at The Dubai Creek 2013 Putting Championships

Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club have held a special members event to commemorate the opening of the new 18 hole Pearl Putting Course.
The Pearl Putting Course is located just outside the Academy building and has been designed by famous golf course landscape architect Peter Harradine, the course has been designed to capture some of the character of the championship course, presenting some challenging shots.

In the inaugural Dubai Creek Putting Club Championship more than 60 players battled it out on the demanding par 45 surface.  The first outing proved to be a closely fought battle with three players posting a five under par score of 40, however it was Mark Hughes who piped Rishi Nair and one handicapper Eduardo Galeppini with a better back nine to take first place and the title of Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club Putting Champion 2013, at the same time setting the first course record.

Winning the ladies division was Katherina Neilson with a score of 44, the junior division title was claimed by young Davis King with a respectable 43.

Stephen Hubner, Head Professional at Dubai Creeks Academy commented, "It was great to see all the members out there enjoying themselves this morning and the feedback we have received from everyone has been absolutely amazing. I've had the chance to play the course now and it's certainly a testing but highly enjoyable experience. We have recently made many new developments at The Academy and the Pearl Putting Course will add to the overall experience that our guests will receive".
The putting course is designed for all levels and ages of golfer to provide a testing and fun challenge, 18 holes costs just AED50 for adults and AED40 for juniors and EGF members inclusive of club and ball hire if required.
