Welcome to Dubai Golf!

We have been enjoying a memorable golfing season of events and tournaments at Dubai Golf. We have welcomed golfers from around the world for the annual European Tour events and the BMW Golf Cup International which  returned for the first time to Dubai since 1997. Over  100,000 amateur golfers from around the world entered the competition, with the top 114 from 40 countries making the trip to Dubai for the final.  The event was won by team Thailand, who accepted their trophy from golfing legend Colin Montgomerie, after he had treated members and golfers to a very popular masterclass.

The Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters once again welcomed some of the best golfers in the world to the famous Majlis course.  China's Shanshan Feng treated spectators to a superb eight under, 64 on the final day to take home the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters for the fourth time in five years in December.  We are all looking forward to welcoming her back to Dubai to defend her trophy in December.  Sergio Garcia took home the 2017 Omega Dubai Desert Classic trophy, with an impressive total of 19 under for his 12th European Tour victory.  He has long been an extremely popular player on the tour and we have always enjoyed watching him in previous tournaments, it was fantastic to see him finish on top this year.  It was also extremely exciting for everyone at Dubai Golf to see the MENA Golf Tour player, 17 year old amateur Rayhan Thomas being given an invitation to play in the tournament and making the cut. Rayhan holds a special place in the heart of Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club where he began his golf career through the junior development programme, we are all extremely proud of Rayhan and following his career with great interest.

Working on sustainability practices remains a key focus for Dubai Golf following the awarding of GEO Certification® at both Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.  The Golf Environment Organisation was founded in 2006 to support golf, helping the sport deliver the greatest possible 'positive impact' in the communities and environments it touches, now and in the future.  GEO Certified® is golf's internationally accredited ecolabel which is awarded based on the club demonstrating a commitment to continual improvement in six main areas of sustainability; water, nature, energy, supply chain, pollution control and community.  In becoming GEO Certified®, our Clubs have joined some of the most famous golf courses in the world that have previously hosted Ryder Cups, Open Championships and European Tour events, including St Andrews, Turnberry, Gleneagles and Le Golf National, host venue of the 2018 Ryder Cup.  As part of our continued environmental focus we will shortly be introducing a food waste recycling programme to Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, this is another key milestone that forms part of our long term sustainability strategy.

Dubai Golf have celebrated further success over the past few months.  At the seventh annual 59Club Awards.  Regarded by many as the 'Oscars' of the golf service industry, the awards are designed to reward the top golf venues, recognising the finest membership clubs and commercial venues around the world.  Dubai Golf picked up the much coveted title 'Golf Group of the Year' title for a third consecutive year while both Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club received a Gold Flag award.  Emirates Golf Club also took the award for the 'Ultimate Members Club', an honour given to the venue, which leads the average scores of all those receiving a Gold Flag.  Dubai Golf's highly respected Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Craig Haldane, left with the award for 'Greenkeeper of the Year' and Barney Coleman, Club Manager at Emirates Golf Club picked up the highly contested accolade of 'Golf Manager of the Year'.  In the Middle East Golf Awards the Majlis course won the best course in the Middle East and long serving colleague Ummer from Emirates Golf Club won Serviceman of the Year.  Head of Sports & Leisure, Andy Meech was presented with Fitness Manager of the Year at the annual FIT awards and Boardwalk was presented with the prestigious What's On award for the Best Modern European Restaurant.

Almouj Golf in Muscat, Oman has gained further recognition within the region and internationally during the past year and once again successfully hosted the Challenge Tour Grand Final in November.  The Club has received extremely positive feedback over the past 12 months, and we are delighted to be managing this great facility.

Our golf courses remain as popular as ever with both members and guests and our Golf Academies continue to go from strength to strength, we are now teaching over 400 juniors every week at our clubs in Dubai and the popularity of the sport is continuing to grow with increasing numbers of new golfers taking lessons. The quality of golf facilities available within the United Arab Emirates now rival the world's top golfing destinations and there really is no better place to take up the game of golf.

Whether you come and dine with us, visit the clubs during special events or you are a regular golfer, we look forward to welcoming you to our Clubs again soon.
