David Gowans headshotBorn in the north-east of Scotland, David graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and worked in the UK offshore oil industry for 20 years. He moved to Newfoundland, Canada in 1998 then to Dubai in 2001 to work for Dubai Petroleum Company. David is now the Operations Director at Atkins Energy.

He started playing golf as an 8 year old at Peterhead Golf Club, then later as a member of Murcar Links in Aberdeen.  A former Captain and club champion at Nad Al Sheba Golf Club, David joined Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club in 2006.

Maureen Platt

Lady Captain

MaureenBorn in Scotland Maureen is a Past Captain at the Creek and comes from a family of avid golfers. She spent most of her adult life in South Africa before coming to Dubai with her husband Robert in 2001.

Her qualifications and career was mainly in Property Development and management, but having left a very successful career in South Africa to join her husband here in Dubai she very quickly became involved in the golf here at Dubai Creek, leading the Ladies Team to victory in the Interclub ( ICC), on 3 occasions in recent years.  Maureen continues to act in a Consultative capacity on Property matters for Investors.   Maureen can always be found on a golf course somewhere around the region when not on her favourite course right here at the Dubai Creek. 

Farad Lakdawala

Vice captain head shotFarad K. Lakdawala is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and is also a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner from the United States of America. He is the Senior Partner at Moore Stephens, which is one of the largest international accounting and consulting networks worldwide, with its headquarters in London. Currently, the Moore Stephens network comprises 626 offices in 108 countries throughout the globe.

Farad has over 3 decades of experience in diverse fields of the accounting profession having worked in India, Oman, USA and the UAE. His industry experience and expertise comprises manufacturing, contracting, financial services, construction, real estate and hospitality.

Farad has been living in the UAE since 1991 and has three sons, Bayhaan, Shezad and Rishad who are avid golfers. Bayhaan and Shezad besides being good golfers and having played college golf in the US, are certified public accountants and are associated with their father’s accounting business in Dubai.  Rishad, the youngest son, graduated from the London School of Economics with first class honours and is currently persuing Chartered Accountancy with Deloitte in the UK.  Whilst the family’s tryst with the game of golf started many years back at the Dubai Golf & Racing Club (now known as The Track, Meydan), the boys have trained and honed their golfing skills at the Creek Academy since 1996.

The woman behind all the men is Shernaz, Farad’s wife and homemaker.  She is a key element in the family equation and enthusiastically follows the progress of all her boys, both on and off the golf course.
